CoSpA takes up The Challenge

Tuesday 15th November 2011

CoSpA is now working with The Challenge Network to build partnerships in support of delivering and enhancing the National Citizens Service (NCS) programme aimed at 16-year-olds nationwide.

NCS supports the Government’s vision for building a Big Society. It’s a voluntary eight-week summer programme that gives 16 year olds from different backgrounds and communities the chance to work together to create and deliver social action projects in their local communities.

Thousands of young people took part in the first pilot in summer 2011 and in 2012, some 30,000 places will be offered to young people. Ultimately, the vision is for NCS to become, over time, a valued rite of passage into adulthood that all 16-year-olds across the UK will complete.

The Challenge Network is the biggest NCS deliverer and the originator of the delivery model, and will be directly promoting NCS to more than 100,000 16-year-olds through school visits in 2012.
