VIY nominated as ‘Sponsorship Innovation of the Year’

Thursday 1st March 2012

The VIY project, combining volunteering and DIY, has been shortlisted for a second Hollis Sponsorship Award: Innovation of the Year.

VIY is already on the shortlist for ‘Best Low Budget Sponsorship’ at the 2012 Hollis Awards and has now also been selected by the judging team as one of only four projects and campaigns, drawn from the 90+ entries already shortlisted across more than 20 Hollis Award categories, on a shortlist for ‘Sponsorship Innovation of the Year’. The winners will be announced on 27th March.

VIY involves young people learning practical trade skills on the job whilst volunteering to renovate and repair their local youth club or community centre building.

VIY launched in Streatham, south London, last year and was enabled in partnership with A4e, London Youth, Pimlico Plumbers, v and Wickes. The project is now being extended UK-wide over the next two years.
