PhonepayPlus the UK regulator for premium rate services, has announced new plans and partners for PhoneBrain (the national education programme in schools and youth clubs), for 2012/13.

PhoneBrain educates young people about using premium rate services safely and securely, and includes an annual awards scheme – supported by business – that challenges young people to develop enterprising ideas for new mobile apps.

Since its launch in 2009, more than 1,000 schools and clubs have participated in PhoneBrain.

CoSpA supports PhonepayPlus in delivering PhoneBrain through the development and management of new cross-sector partnerships, and confirmed partners to date for the new 2012/13 school year include BlackBerry, StartUp Britain, Live UnLtd, Ambition¬† and The Lord’s Taverners.

As well as enabling a range of different PhoneBrain Awards categories, the partners will each work to support and mentor the eventual award-winners in taking their ideas forward.

PhoneBrain will officially relaunch for 2012/13 in September 2012 when the PhoneBrain website goes live with a new package of expanded, free-to-download teaching and learning resources.
