Cospa selected as Diversity partner by ITV

Tuesday 20th August 2013

Cospa has been selected as one of ITV’s Diversity partners to help engage diverse young talent with the ITV brand and with work opportunities in TV and media.

Specifically, young people taking part in youth and community projects developed and managed by Cospa will be offered the chance to participate in ITV work experience programmes such as Work Inspiration Week.

The award-winning Work Inspiration Week programme gives young people (aged 14-17) a hands-on, ‘behind the screens’ experience and understanding of the TV and media industry. In particular, it is designed to inspire young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or neighbourhoods, regardless of educational levels, to consider and aspire to jobs and careers in the industry which they may have thought were unattainable or inaccessible to them.

Luke George from Hackney (pictured, second from left), who recently helped renovate his local youth club as part of Cospa’s VIY project, was invited to join ITV’s Work Inspiration Week 2013 and his experiences included creating films in the ‘This Morning’ studio and meeting inspirational ITV staff members such as journalist and newsreader Alistair Stewart OBE. In Luke’s words: “The week opened my eyes to jobs that I didn’t even know existed and also, by having a go at things, I learnt a lot more about the types of job I might enjoy and also be good at.”
