Tenner Tycoon

Tenner Tycoon is an annual nationwide competition to promote enterprise in schools.

Run by the Peter Jones Foundation, Tenner involves tens of thousands of school children being given ten pounds and one month to make money and, at the same time, make a difference.

In 2010, almost 30,000 students took part, the average return generated in a month among the top 50 participants was £260, and 96% of the money distributed to students was ultimately ‘donated’ back to the Tenner Bank. Tenner has also been widely featured across the national media, from Newsround to Newsnight.

Tenner was originally founded – and continues to be supported – by Oli Barrett, Director of Cospa. Other current and past supporters of Tenner include Peter Jones of Dragons’ Den, Michael and Xochi Birch of Bebo, and the Big Lottery Fund.
